LAWSUIT FILED AGAINST CITY OF WESTON, WEST VIRGINIA BY CITY MANAGER ALLEGING A HOSTILE WORK ENVIRONMENT, BREACH OF CONTRACT, WRONGFUL DISCHARGE, CIVIL CONSPIRACY AND VIOLATIONS OF THE OPEN GOVERNMENTAL MEETINGS ACT

As reported by various media outlets across North Central West Virginia, Simmerman Law Office, PLLC recently filed a Complaint against the City of Weston, West Virginia and various Weston City Council members in the Circuit Court of Lewis County, West Virginia alleging that the City of Weston, West Virginia created a hostile work environment and committed actions/omissions constituting contractual breaches in relation to the City Manager’s employment with the City of Weston, West Virginia. It is further alleged in the lawsuit that the City of Weston, West Virginia acted in a malicious, oppressive, secretive, hostile and retaliatory manner in the employment law context by, among others, allegedly transacting public affairs “in private and behind closed doors” and by “systemically eliminat[ing] the powers and responsibilities of the city manager position” at the City of Weston, West Virginia.
