LAWSUIT SETTLED WITH CITY OF CLARKSBURG ALLEGING VIOLATIONS OF THE WEST VIRGINIA WHISTLEBLOWER ACT

Per multiple media reports, the City of Clarksburg, West Virginia and former City Manager Martin Howe recently settled the lawsuit brought by Simmerman Law Office, PLLC on behalf of Martin Howe against the City of Clarksburg, West Virginia.  As part of the settlement, the City of Clarksburg, West Virginia agreed to pay Martin Howe $209,371.22 and pay $25,000 toward his legal fees. Howe’s lawsuit, filed July 18, 2019, alleged a civil conspiracy against City Manager Howe by various city officials and actors, and sought, among others, injunctive relief under the West Virginia Whistleblower Act.
