WEST VIRGINIA UNIVERSITY ANNOUNCES SETTLEMENT WITH WEST VIRGINIA RADIO CORPORATION CONCERNING THIRD TIER MEDIA RIGHTS DISPUTE

Per a recent article, West Virginia University will pay West Virginia Radio Corporation nearly $1 million for a partial reimbursement of attorney fees related to the recently settled West Virginia University third  media rights lawsuit.  Specifically, as part of the settlement agreement, West Virginia University will pay West Virginia Radio Corporation $937,000 as partial reimbursement for attorney fees and costs associated with the case.

In a joint statement, WVU president Gordon Gee said he was “very pleased to bring this matter to a final resolution”, further stating that “WVRC is a significant contributor to our local community, West Virginia University and the state of West Virginia,” Gee said. “The university deeply appreciates and values the partnership it has had with WVRC for more than 70 years in bringing high-quality radio broadcasts to Mountaineer fans throughout West Virginia and surrounding states.” Settlement amounts paid by the West Virginia University Foundation and West Virginia Media in the litigation, which has been pending in the West Virginia Business Court for greater than a year,  were not disclosed.
